The first Umarex generation, always looking forward, has taken timely steps to shift management responsibilities to its successors. Wulf-Heinz Pflaumer and Franz Wonisch transferred active management of the company to their sons in 2012. Eyck Pflaumer is now in charge of marketing and sales and Martin Wonisch manages purchasing and finance.
The management trio works together excellently as a team and continues to receive support from Wulf-Heinz Pflaumer and Franz Wonisch. In this way the company remains focused on the future while preserving continuity.
Umarex has retained one characteristic throughout its history: its independence as a mid-size, owner-managed family company. This determines the management style: modern and dynamic, but also with spirit. The management is able to act courageously and quickly because hierarchies are flat and decision-making channels are short.
Ground-breaking ideas arise when people with different skills work together. Teamwork encourages employee participation. The employees identify with the products which they develop, manufacture or sell. Many indeed are enthusiastic sport shooters and have won acclaim with “their” products.
Umarex replicas are invented and made by people. The management places great store in the knowhow and experience of its more than 900 employees worldwide. It knows that skilled hands do the best work and that the human eye is indispensable, even in these days of computer-controlled manufacturing. Umarex therefore does everything it can to create and preserve jobs for skilled employees in Germany.
For a family company, promotion of training and development is a matter of course. Umarex creates a large number of trainee positions each year. In addition, the Umarex Academy provides regular training to employees in the use of the latest products and technology.
